Cream To Powder Foundation

What is the best way to apply a cream foundation that transforms into a powdery finish? I come from a new foundation of this kind and it seems to end a bit uneven.

I use a cream powder foundation / i and use a little make up sponge to apply it and then I put on a light powder foundation cream to ensure that the natural appearance . and sometimes it looks a bit uneven, but when this happens I take a damp cloth and I have my face with a towel and I wipe off the search cakey foundation around the chin area, so I do not look at the face cake .
