CurlersClogs and curlers: A Match Made In Heaven Olympic?

Was it just me or does the curling teams at the Olympics wearing shoes. They were not like wooden shoes or clogs medical , but they were more like a butcher's coat. As they almost look like dress shoes, but at the same time they were shoes. I had never seen those before. Me would never have guessed players wore all kinds of special shoes, but I suppose when you play a sport where you slide on the ice with a precision you need something special.

This made me think about what kind of shoes you need to help navigate the ice. I know that wear a curler special type of rubber sole that they slide on the bottom of the shoes on the ice, but I guess they do not give you any advantage. In essence, the rubber soles are so you do not scratch the glass, I guess they have little to do with the curler to give an additional advantage.

If you've ever walked on the ice this is not the easiest thing to navigate. If you're fairly well with the scale, I'm not the best but I'm decent enough to where I spend most time out of my ass, you can usually maneuver well on without getting your balance any time . It takes a little more skill to slide on it, but once you've done a few times, you kind of get the hang on this. I played hockey sweeper a few times (think hockey with shoes instead of skates) and saw that the tennis shoes are usually the best way to go if you wear shoes on the ice. I once had to play hockey with a broom slips over work shoes and has not been a fun experience (I had bruises for weeks). I guess the shoes have curlers use a good fit, but have sufficient mobility to be comfortable when you are mobile.

When you think about a shoe that is comfortable on the ice, I guess you'd have to take the same standards you would put in force immediately upon purchase of an ice skate. For those of you who have worn ice skates (I guess that's probably about 80% of you reading this article ... I mean c'mon, who did not go skating ice) know they are supposed to be watertight. You do not want to move up too much because you want more control over where you point the blade. If your foot moves too much, your turn is not quite right and you will find on your fanny for most of the day. You're basically looking for something that is the fight to the ankle and foot to mid region, but also with enough room to wiggle your toes. Or so I assume you want in curling shoes. Maybe I'll try and let you know later.
