Early Years Foundation

Early Years FoundationDo you think the first years of the Foundation Stage is good for children or caregivers?

The EFJ will be implemented in England since 1 September 08 and will be regulated by Ofsted. It covers children from birth til 31 August after their 5th birthday.

I think combing birth to three and the Foundation stage in a fluid will support settings with children of different ages in one class, for example: pre-school where they were 2 years old in a class with 3 and 4 years. It will support the planning process, creating a folder to transfer to new settings and maintain the necessary steps!

The fact that its overlapping ages means that children should not be in a box by a certain age but may be working on several goals. It also highlights areas of learning that are missed by the establishment or may indicate a need for special education or additional support required. It also helps when it comes to examining learning with parents, because they can see a visual for the expected "norms". Thus, all parents who say "my girl friends did in 3 years, why isn't my daughter" can be established the framework and spirit (most times) may be rested.

The new training completion records are traveling very well (once you get used it) ... They show parents what the child in setting and how the flow of learning. The book is styled to allow parents to participate in comments and be able to support at home.

I think that change can be scary and different and may take some time to get into the swing of it but then again many people complained about the birth to three and Every Child Matters entered into force and after another a practice that, it has become normal.

I think it is good to have some sort of advice on such things to children in the old stadium Foundation (3-5 years) should do, but I think I have the legal age related milestones before then inappropriate. I guess it helps to prevent pediatric nurses in private nurseries to ignore the baby all day (I've seen it happen), but my personal worry is how long will it be before parents who stay at home must be following it and the mapping of their child's development to show Ofsted or another agency? The babies continue to do what babies have done for centuries, and parents do not need the added pressure of what their child can do anything on a government list produced. Most parents that commit their time at home with their young children already do a good job of putting on and promoting early learning, so that kind of thing is just an insult to them.

its always been their only under a different name
