Tarot give us a chance to reveal our true thoughts, thoughts that are often pushed to the forefront of our minds, because they are unpleasant and we do not want to deal with it. Different types of questions have different answers, now, different ways of answering these questions. These ways are called to spread, and are literally the way the cards are placed on the table in front of you.
Five Card Spread

Map 3 - (is) Future
Map 4 - (South) Reason for asking

The spread ellipse is another variation that can be used to respond to direct questions. This would be in the middle of the road in that complex issues go. Lined up as a V, with the fourth card being in the middle, he will travel south-east before climbing trip in a northeasterly direction in a sequential order (1-7).
