Should I use hydraulic cement to repair a foundation crack? My house is 13 years and has developed a 1 / 16-1 / 8 inch crack in the poured concrete foundation, which manages about 5 feet above the ground. I do not see the basement, but I guess it goes well. This crack is probably the house settling. I thought to be repaired with hydraulic cement to the outside. The wall is finished inside and seems to be dry. Does this work or should I use something else?
I work as a civil engineer for many years. What can I see your problem as your home's having a weak foundation. If the crack involving the main structure or the structure of beans that mean you have big problem. If other then you can still use hydraulic cement to seal it. But one thing you should know that the hydraulic cement or other materials you use that can cover the crack line, but the height of the foundation remains low and the crack will run again. You can not stop the crack with hydraulic cement ... the only way is to add. another concrete foundation for the stop. Let me know if you want more details about this ...!
Thats what I would use.
Cement is a good solution to your problem.
