The Bristol County Savings Charitable Foundation recently awarded a grant of $ 25,000 for community outreach at UMass Dartmouth Foundation, which chose to use the grant to help support the University of 2008 Freedom Festival. Members of the Bristol County Savings management team were on hand to present the check to UMass officials at a luncheon held earlier this month at the University. UMass Chancellor Jean F. McCormack acknowledged the contribution of his remarks by saying: "This grant marks the beginning of a new dynamic relationship with Bristol County Savings Bank, which helps us in our advocacy for our region." The 2008 Freedom Festival will be held July 3 on the UMass Dartmouth campus and will feature a concert in New Bedford Symphony Pops Orchestra followed by fireworks. The Freedom Festival draws more than 20,000 residents of southeastern Massachusetts and northern Rhode Island on campus to enjoy this fourth annual report of July celebration. The aim of the Bristol County Savings Foundation charity, established in 1996 to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the Bank is to "give back" to the communities served by Bristol County Savings Bank, and contribute to the well-being individuals and institutions within these communities.
