Organic Cosmetics Organic Cosmetics Going green seems to be the trend these days with many types of organic products more readily available for everyone to buy - food, clothing, tea, vitamins and herbal supplements to name a few each. It is not surprising that Mother Nature, with the help of scientists has managed to enter the beauty industry in the form of natural and organic cosmetics. So what exactly are the natural and organic cosmetics? natural beauty products are made from all sorts of ingredients found in nature such as fruits, plant extracts, seeds, minerals, oils and natural waxes. Shades of lipstick, eye shadow and blush are made by grinding colored minerals. Shea butter, honey and lawyers are used to make lotions and scrubs. The soaps are made from vegetable oils such as palm and coconut. The products are called "organic" if their ingredients are grown without chemical fertilizers, pesticides, insecticides or herbicides. These harmful chemicals tend to leave harmful residues on plants that pollute the environment and can have adverse effects for humans. Thus, organic beauty products are safer and healthier. traditional cosmetics contain synthetic fragrances, dyes, chemicals or preservatives that can trigger severe reactions in the skin leading to skin irritation, rashes or allergic reactions. So if you have sensitive skin, you can consider switching to an alternate organic, as natural cosmetics do not contain harsh foreign substances. In addition, natural organic products have been shown to prevent signs of premature aging, restoring moisture balance and smoothing wrinkles. Given the beneficial effects of these natural products, many companies seek to capitalize on the marketing of their products "organic". Independent organizations have to certify that products are really free from harmful chemicals. So when you want to buy an organic product make sure you buy the "real" thing. Find a "label certified biological evidence" on your product. Also, try to read the label - If the main ingredients of the product (usually listed on top) are looking chemical names are difficult, then it is probably not natural / organic. If you are still in doubt, research the ingredients and learn more about the manufacturer to see if they are reliable and can vouch for their products. Although organic products tend to be more expensive than conventional products, you can be sure you buy safe products benefiting yourself and the environment! Posted on January 13, 2010.
