Pol Pot Genocide

Pol Pot GenocideThe genocide in Cambodia - What happened next

We are in the year 1970. Cambodia, a country in Southeast Asia has burst into a civil war because of conflicts between Prince Sihanouk, who has recently joined forces with a fierce communist organization, and Lon Nol - The newly appointed Chairman of the "Khmer Republic".

However, nobody could have imagined what lay ahead, the genocide in Cambodia was just around the corner. The guerrilla communist organization that I mentioned is more commonly known as the "Khmer Rouge". Formed in the course of 1960, he was still a relatively small group in 1970. Their leader, Pol Pot was deeply fascinated by the principles of Chinese Communism. At the time of the Civil War and the storming of the U.S. military, the Cambodian citizens have begun to follow its rule rather than according to the Lon Nol and his cooperation with America. With the support of communist China and North Vietnam, the Khmer Rouge have received training and has grown to more than 700,000 men in 1975.

With the Khmer Rouge and Vietnamese Communists invaded, Lon Nol was quickly rejected. It took several days for Pol Pot to step in as leader of Cambodia by reducing the former government and starting a program without a thank you to regenerate the country under very similar to the ideals of Communist China . It required that every citizen must perform work in a huge collective farm training. Anyone who dared to oppose would be eradicated, including intellectuals or professionals, even without obvious objection, were killed on the "assumption" that they could. Not only that, but all the ancient traditions of Cambodian society have been given, if they do not consent to its ideals. Where were these monstrous murders they would later be called the genocide in Cambodia.

Thousands of people flee their homes to sacrifice themselves to hard labor. Without regard to age or illness, people would be killed if they do not agree with the terms. Absolutely no one was safe from capture Pol Pot, who died at the person because they refused his regime. It was a very ruthless man who has left a huge scar on the face of Cambodia and its people.

So extreme was the rule that has even forced the closure of schools, hospitals and factories. Religion was simply another case of death, particularly in Buddhism, with many monks murdered and their places of worship destroyed and killed. Even those who are too afraid to protest could be killed for the simple act of laughing or listening to the radio. Every citizen has been just as vulnerable as others.

You would be wrong to believe they had any loyalty to work long hours on the labor camps. They received no remuneration for their efforts and very little food or water. It was inevitable that they are tired, hungry, and prone to diseases which he had no remedy - death.

In 1978, troops from Vietnam were sent to Cambodia to attack the Khmer Rouge and their neighbors rid of all ties with China, with which they had their own problems. Another war was going to last nearly a decade, killing thousands in the fire, causing the introduction into Viet Nam's transitional government in Phnom Penh. Pol Pot pension plan in the jungles of western and began to collapse. In 1993, the former monarch Prince Sihanouk was chosen to head the new government and, finally, a bit of peace has been restored to the earth torn by genocide in Cambodia.
